Heat Reflective Coatings

Heat Reflective Paint Performance

Painting your roof with a heat reflective membrane is one of the most effective passive cooling solutions for residents of North Queensland, who consistently struggle with summer temperatures and cooling costs.

Roof painting with a heat reflective coating stops the heat from entering the roof cavity and saves you money.

How This Helps You?

Applying a heat reflective coating will reduce house temperature more effectively in the summer than traditional in ceiling insulation as it stops heat at the source.

The suns radiant heat will now be reflected away from your roof and not absorbed into your roof cavity, keeping you cool and comfortable all day and night. The heat reflective coating also protects and extends the life of your roof for many years to come.

Our Step by Step Procedure

Preparation and Repairs

We prepare and repair your roof adequately, before the application of the roof membrane. Some screws may need to be replaced or some pointing and tiles may need repairs and this is a crucial part of the preparation stage.

If you have solar panels on your roof, don’t worry. We have years of experience painting roofs with solar panels already fitted and there is no need to remove them. The solar panels are taped and covered so no overspray lands on them.

Cleaning the Roof

Cleaning the roof is another important step of the roof painting process and it forms a part of the 10 years warranty of the products we use to paint your roof.

Using state-of-the-art, high-pressure water cleaners, we remove all the dirt and contamination from your roof.

This step is vital to ensure a perfect finish when the paint is applied.

Time for Painting

First, we prime the surface with the appropriate product depending on the roof surface material. Colorbond roofs generally do not need a primer when we use our award-winning heat-reflective roof membrane. Tile and asbestos roofs do need a primer coat. The old-style galvanised iron roofs need a specialised protective coating prior to roof painting.

We then apply two coats of quality, heat-reflective paint or decorative room membrane to your roof using an airless spray gun. Just like the primer, the painting system used depends on the roof material and desired outcome.

But wait, there is more...

Of course, there are more options than the white and off-white roof painting finish. We have a range of colours available and can match any Colorbond colour.

The rule of thumb is that the more colour you add to paint, the less it will reflect.
